Biography

Monika Kus-Picco, born in Vienna in 1973, lives and works in Vienna, Lower Austria and Rio de Janeiro. She studied painting at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna with Adolf Frohner and art history at the University of Vienna. She then continued her training with Hermann Nitsch and Herbert Brandl in Düsseldorf. Nitsch subsequently became a patron and friend.
Her works were shown at numerous exhibitions in Belgium, Hungary, the Netherlands, New York and Paris. In 2021 Robert Fleck curated a major exhibition at the Museum Angerlehner in Thalheim. In the exhibition "Andy Warhol to Cecily Brown", her paintings were presented at the beginning of 2022 together with international key works from the collection of the Albertina Vienna. Also in 2022, a personal exhibition was dedicated to her at the Birgit Lauda Foundation in Vienna and at the Museum Osthaus in Hagen.
