"Diamond (Red)" is based on the monumental steel sculptures in green, pink, blue, yellow and red created in 1994-2005 and is a strictly limited collector's edition in precious Limoges porcelain. The highly polished chrome surface reflects the light like a real diamond and deliberately includes the surroundings and the viewer in mirror effects. The outrageously perfect technical execution is a characteristic of Jeff Koons' sculptures. Red diamonds are among the rarest and most expensive gemstones in the world, and so the stone, finely cut in a golden setting, stands as a symbol of social wealth, but also of devotion and love. Since antiquity, the incredible effect of diamonds has led to a mythological transfiguration of the precious stones, which, as tears of the gods, give their wearer strength and, at the tip of Cupid's arrows, plant love in the hearts of mortals. But Jeff Koons sees more in it: " It's not about bling; it's about the moment of creation. The setting on the sides of the diamond represents male energy, and the diamond an egg. The stone is attached to a ring with four prongs. To me, the prongs are like sperm attacking an egg. The facets of the diamond are the egg in the process of fertilisation."

The diamond as a sign of becoming human, as the origin of all being, as the essence of the artist's work, who sees sexuality, which is the basic prerequisite for the preservation of our species, as the main subject of his art.
