The compact round forms accompanied the artist to California in 1967, only to give way to a scriptural gesture after his return in the early 1970s. The series "Colima-Jalisco", inspired by trips to Mexico in 1969/1970 and 1972, brings the complete dissolution of the previously solidified forms. The colour red also reasserts its supremacy. Dipping his brush deep into the paint pot, Markus Prachensky lets rich strokes move along a strict pictorial axis from bottom to top. The individual colour bars are slightly offset from each other, which creates a dancing mobility that is reinforced by the uncontrollable drips and splashes of paint that drift off to the side.
