Disputa (incontro) in Algeria 2018

Karin Pliem travelled to Algeria in 2018 at the invitation of the University of Oran for the "15th International Symposium on Languages, Literatures, Arts ...". She is fascinated by the contrasts between rich and poor, new and old. Despite the extreme differences, she discovers overarching cultural connections that strongly inspire her for further paintings. A fountain on a Moorish tiled floor as well as columns from the Bardo National Museum in Algiers form the background in "Disputa (incontro) in Algeria" ("Dispute (Meeting) in Algeria", cat.no. 88). Hardly anything of this can be seen any more due to the dense overpainting.
