"A great innocent desire came over me to paint again, to paint carefree, more carefree than ever." (Hermann Nitsch)

This canvas painting was created in 2013 on the occasion of the 67th painting action as part of the event "Im Rausch der Sinne ll" at the Nitsch Museum in Mistelbach.
Early on, the artist professed an exuberant joie de vivre that reached into intoxication and ecstasy and which he increasingly incorporated into his work. The colour red plays a leading role: "Red", which for him is an "unbelievably sensual colour, the most intense and aggressive of all". It stands for life and death in equal measure, as the colour of blood, for suffering and pain, but also for the origin and essence of life. In this way, Hermann Nitsch also succeeds in expressing sensual intoxication, drives and repressed desires by means of colour in pure painting. The relatively calm arrangement of the red colour streams and lines running from top to bottom is reminiscent in its seismographic rhythm of the colour scales and graphics of the scores of the Orgien Mysterien Theatre. Hermann Nitsch, as is little known, was himself an enthusiastic organist. In addition to literature, religion, mysticism, philosophy and psychoanalysis, he was also intensively involved with music and is a great admirer of the compositions of Claude Debussy, Arnold Schönberg and Johann Sebastian Bach.
